DeSantis for President?

Would Ron DeSantis make a good president?

Anything is better than Brandon, or maybe not.

If you believe in chaos, Brandon is a good choice. So was Trump.

DeSantis would be something entirely different, and when National Review starts making the case, you need to be worried.

You see, people like Jack Geraghty think a President Ron is a good idea, that can only mean one thing.

Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.

DeSantis is a great governor, arguably the best in the United States at the moment.

But Geraghty likes him because he would be more like George W. Bush than Donald Trump.

In other words, the neocons and Straussians would be salivating at the opportunity to get back into the government.

Trump didn’t keep them out, but at least he irritated many of them. Straussians like Michael Anton had some influence in the Trump administration, and on some issues they are right, but DeSantis would be Trump the Hamiltonian/Lincolnite on steroids.

He already calls himself a Hamiltonian. His foreign policy would be more in line with Bill Kristol than Pat Buchanan. And he certainly wouldn’t shy away from abusing executive power.

Sounds about right for an NRO endorsement.

I think DeSantis should stay in Florida.

Truth be told, there aren’t many people who would be a real republican in the White House. That ship has probably sailed.

We are then left with picking between one nationalist or another with the end result being we all lose.

Trump has been politically weakened, but DeSantis is probably not the answer, at least not from a Jeffersonian position.

I discuss a President DeSantis on Episode 741 of The Brion McClanahan Show.
